Eldan Sorting & PICVISA Unveil Metals Vertical at IFAT 2026: Optical Sorting for Cable Granulates and Non-Ferrous Metals

IFAT 2026 marks a major milestone for Eldan Sorting, as the long-standing partnership with PICVISA delivers a fully integrated metals vertical combining optical sorting, magnetic separation, and real-time alloy identification.

The Metals Vertical: Three Complementary Lines

  • Optical sorting for cable granulates and non-ferrous metals via SPS and MPS — developed exclusively for Eldan Recycling
  • Magnetic separation, eddy-current non-ferrous recovery and stainless steel separation through Regulator Cetrisa
  • Real-time alloy identification via LIBS through Austin AI

SPS and MPS: Built for Metals and Cable Sorting

The SPS (Small Purpose Sorter) handles granulated materials from 3 to 20 mm — ideal for cable granulate sorting. The MPS (Multi Purpose Sorter) serves high-volume operations with belt widths up to 3,000 mm, featuring MWIR and AI for WEEE and non-ferrous metals.

AI and MWIR: Solving the Black Plastic Challenge

Conventional NIR cannot identify black plastics. PICVISA’s MWIR hyperspectral imaging with AI enables classification of PE, PP, PS, PC regardless of surface pigmentation. Combined with XRF, it detects brominated flame retardants — key for WEEE compliance.
